I grew up immersed in the lake culture of Minnesota, and I love creating authentic sailing landscapes that capture the set of the sails, and the movement of the water. While experimenting with an escape from Minnesota’s winters, I discovered the beauty of the Arizona desert—and the exhilaration and challenges of a new color palette and translating an entirely new world onto canvas.

My aim as an artist has always been to tell a story and spread some color and beauty along the way. Art captured my attention from a very young age and I learned to love all aspects of the creative process—envisioning, capturing the form, adding personality and color to create an authentic and unique final piece.

My favorite medium is oil painting, focusing on landscape and nature. It’s a constant challenge to capture the nuances and diverse characters of Minnesota and Arizona and their endless possibilities. For me, the best art not only tells a story, but is interesting and compelling enough for the viewer to discover their own thoughts and connections to the work. I strive to create the experience every time I pick up a brush or mix a new color.
